Since 2019, Galilee CDC has served as the designated fresh produce pickup location for select area food pantries.  The agreement with Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) made it possible for surrounding food pantries to no longer have to travel into the District of Columbia to pick up monthly produce from the CAFB warehouse. Instead, the produce is transported to Galilee's William H. Bennett Food Pantry location for distribution.

Through collaboration with farmers, CAFB provides in-season produce for distribution each month.  Depending on the season, pantries might receive

fresh white potatoes, sweet potatoes, kale, cabbage, corn, cucumbers, peppers, squash, onions, bananas, apples, watermelon, pineapples, cantaloupe, and much more.

The Third Wednesday Produce Hub allows pantries to add "fresh" foods to their canned food distributions, thus affording persons living in food deserts and those with limited means access to healthier diets.
